As Leh is located at a high altitude (around 11,500 feet), it's essential to take rest for acclimatization. Spend the rest of the day relaxing and getting used to the low oxygen levels.
In the evening, take a leisurely stroll through the Leh Market. Here, you can shop for local handicrafts, woollen clothes, and souvenirs. You may also visit the Shanti Stupa for an incredible view of the town and the surrounding valleys.
After breakfast, begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Leh Palace, which offers panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains.
Next, visit the Thiksey Monastery, one of the largest and most impressive monasteries in Ladakh, known for its resemblance to the Potala Palace in Tibet. The monastery is located atop a hill, offering a beautiful view of the Indus Valley.
After lunch, head to the Hemis Monastery, one of the richest and most famous monasteries in Ladakh. It is known for the annual Hemis Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors. Later, visit Stok Palace, the residence of the royal family of Ladakh, offering insights into the royal history of the region.
Relax and explore more of Leh’s streets at your own pace.
After an early breakfast, drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, at an altitude of 18,380 feet. The drive is an adventure in itself, providing stunning views of the Himalayas.
Once you reach Nubra Valley, check-in at your camp or hotel. Afterward, visit the Diskit Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the region, where you can witness magnificent views of the valley.
Later, proceed to the Hunder Sand Dunes, where you can take a camel ride (Bactrian camels, which have two humps) and enjoy the surreal landscape.
Spend the evening enjoying the quiet beauty of Nubra Valley. You can enjoy a traditional Ladakhi meal at your accommodation.
After breakfast, drive from Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake, one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in the world. The journey offers stunning views of the barren mountains and open landscapes of Ladakh.
Arrive at Pangong Lake, which is known for its breathtaking beauty and the fact that it changes color throughout the day. Spend some time by the lake, relax, and enjoy the serenity.
Don’t forget to take photos with the iconic backdrop of the lake featured in movies like 3 Idiots.
After a relaxing day at Pangong Lake, head to your campsite or guesthouse for the night.
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Leh via Chang La Pass, another high-altitude pass at around 17,586 feet. The drive offers stunning views of the mountains and valleys.
On the way back, stop by the Magnetic Hill, where vehicles appear to defy gravity and move uphill without any engine power.
Visit the Confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers, a beautiful spot where the two rivers meet, offering a mesmerizing view.
Arrive back in Leh and relax at your hotel. You can spend the evening exploring the local markets or enjoying a peaceful dinner at one of the local restaurants.
After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to Tso Moriri Lake, a pristine high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The lake is less crowded than Pangong Lake, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
Spend your day around the lake, soaking in its tranquility. The area is home to many migratory birds and wildlife, including the Tibetan wild ass and marmots.
In the evening, return to Leh for your final night in the city.
Depending on your flight timing, enjoy some leisure time in Leh. You can visit local cafes, shop for souvenirs, or relax.
